Landscape architecture combines art, science, and technology.

It is a diverse profession that designs, plans, and manages our land. Landscape architecture has strong roots in the U.S., and early examples, such as Central Park in New York City, are still much admired. Landscape architects design parks, campuses, streetscapes, trails, plazas, and other projects that help improve communities. Some 24,500 employees work in the landscape architecture field in the United States, according to U.S. Department of Labor in 2019; the median annual wage for a landscape architect is $69,360.
